Note: In 1945 M. C. Gaines sold his interest in All-American (a DC subsidiary) and started Educational Comics. After the split Gaines maintained the rights to the Picture Stories from the Bible line of comics. EC's first issue appears to be the New Testament Edition #2. It also appears that the cover to issue #2 had already been printed with an All-American logo but the interior indicia shows Educational Comics, Inc. as the publisher. Inside of #2 there is an advertisement for New Testament Edition #1 that bears the All-American logo, however, the 1944 original issue #1 bears the DC logo and the 1946 reprint of issue #1 bears no logo, just the LN distributor and ID marks.
Note: In 1961 W. M. Gaines sold E.C. Publications, Inc. to Premier Industries, Inc. The last issue of Mad magazine under the ownership of W. M. Gaines appears to be issue #64. Gaines would stay on to run the magazine under the new ownership. Mad would eventually be acquired by DC in 1964.
